The Thoughtful Biometrics Workshop is creating a space to dialogue about critical emerging issues surrounding biometric and digital identity technologies.

Biometrics technology is being used in a wide range of contexts and there in this range of existing and potential uses, there are many questions about the ethical and socially good uses.

We are bringing people from a range of perspectives that don’t speak together, usually Biometric Scientist, Identity Management professionals and Civil Society Advocates.

Biometrics technology is being used in a wide range of contexts and there in this range of existing and potential uses, there are many questions about the ethical and socially good uses.
Questions include:

  • How do they work?
  • How are they being used?
  • What are the dangers of their use?
  • What are the appropriate and even good uses?

You can read more about out the event and our inspiration on the site https://thoughtfulbiometrics.org/

The co-organizers are Kaliya Young “Identity Woman”, Jack Callahan and Dr. Asem Othman.

The agenda will be created live the day of the event and will be shaped by everyone attending. This is based on my experience leading the Internet Identity Workshop for the last 15 years where we use this format. We have solicited ideas from registering attendees – you can read them here: https://thoughtfulbiometrics.org/potential-topics
